#A to Z Challenge: X is for ... Xpress!

Today's 'heart things, heart strings' theme for the letter X in the A to Z challenge is Xtra as in doing a good deed and going the extra mile, beyond what is required or asked.

Wait a minute! What am I thinking?! How about Xpressive or Xpress as in my blog name? I could even write about "Xpressive" Arts Therapy. (The correct spelling is actually "expressive" and "express.")

Xpress Your Essence - a blog existed with an 'e' in 'Express Your Essence' - was borne out of heart. And it is about heart in part. (I'm not just saying that 'cause I like to rhyme from time to time! Ok, that just tumbled out of me!)

My blog is about our true essence, yes yours AND mine, which is love. Our highest expression is love, and our spiritual/soul self is made up of light and love.

I have a few questions for you: (1) How do you think you best express yourself? (2) What form of expression does your soul/spiritual self naturally take? (3) Are they the same or different? (The first answer may have to do with the creative and expressive arts, though it could be about anything really in terms of creating.)

Picture I drew of my hands

Let me give you an example. I believe I best express myself through writing. (Though I have been informed recently that I have a gift of a particular style of painting, I haven't explored that yet).

At times, that is sometimes, I express Spirit/intuition in "channelled" writing - nonfiction, sometimes fiction and poetry - as some of you may know if you've been following me, that I get words a lot intuitively and I can be quite creative with ideas.)

However, where my form of expression originates is in my hands. This can be through typing and/or writing. However, I strongly feel energy in my hands when I am giving hands-on/energy healing and increasingly when receiving it. My hands also initiate spontaneous movements which I coin "intuitive movements" and that has been concurred by another sensitive soul. (That is for another blog post someday!)

  1. That's a powerful prompt, Elly. Writing and cinema are two mediums to express self.

    1. Thanks Ranveer, though I was only on stage once thus far - you read that post I assume? ;) However, any form of expression that takes me "on stage" - doesn't have to be literal! ;) <3

  2. You do express yourself very well Elly. And I love the way you talk about your blog being both about you and about your readers. Very few bloggers think like that. Most of us generally are too preoccupied about our own expressions than the thpughts of their readers. Way to go girl <3

    1. Oh thanks Vinnie - blush - I do my best...that's all I can do. ;) Yes, I didn't expand on that, though in part it's about me being a reflection of my readers and vice versa...like me heeding the "advice" I give out for example! ;) Hmm, did i make myself clear, i.e., express myself well! ;) <3

  3. Elly, hats olff to your creativity !! Your ideas are original, which make you stand on a high pedestal. The drawing, for example is a clear indication of your style.

  4. I loved the explanation your your blog name. That's just beautiful :) I would like to read more about intuitive movement :)
I too express better with words. People in real life find me extremely silent... like a saner version of my crazy online self :)

    1. Thanks Raj! :) Intuitive movement is one I coined when my hands just well, started to do things spontaneously. An analogy is instead of "channelled" writing, my hands act as receivers or channels of energy. I hope that Xplains it well! ;) Some people express better verbally, some better in writing...there is no right or wrong about this - and a lot of introverts I think are better with words on paper or computer than speaking. <3

  5. You really express well and loved the way you have coined the name for your blog! As for me, writing on paper (and laptop) works best for me!

    1. Thanks Shilpa: your compliment makes me smile, wide! :) A great way to express that I love too Shilpa, though for me prefer now by typing as it's much faster, don't you find? ;) <3

  6. You and your Xpressive blog have been highlights on this A-Z tour, Elly. ☺ Your creativity shines on every post! Writing, music, photography, and graphics are my my main forms of expression, but I'm also adept at verbal communication. Sketching and abstract art was something I did as a teenager; might take it up again one of these days!

    1. Oh, thanks SO much Debbie: I am SO tickled pink! :) As I mentioned (under values) creativity and expression are important to me! ;) I love your ways of expressing Debbie and share some, though I am curious: do you play an instrument and if so, which one(s)? :) I encourage you to keep playing and exploring, that is if you feel drawn to go back to sketching and/or abstract art.or anything else that you fancy. <3
