Frolicking Fun Friday: Painting with Fire

My apologies in advance as I couldn't download a video about this, and the photos, taken from a girlfriend's phone, are the largest I can showcase. (I just purchased a new cellphone as one was essentially on its way out and I didn't know how to use my new one yet.)

In the photo above, the man is lying on this back on the floor with his legs up in the air holding her up in the air while they are both "fire performing." What stamina, strength, endurance, and balance!

Last Friday, albeit the weather was rather cool with temperamental rain, I am glad we both stayed to hear two bands play at the Shipyards Night Market, a farmer's market with live bands, in North Vancouver, BC (http://vancouversnorthshore.com/whats-happening/night-market-the-shipyards/).

We were pleasantly surprised and delighted when these incredibly talented, acrobatic fire performers did their magic with a band, Painting with Fire in the background. There were five of them, one women amongst them.

Here is one of the male performers:

And below is a photo of the group taken from Facebook:

What types of entertainment do you enjoy? How do you prefer to frolick and have fun?

  1. Painting with fire sounds thrilling and innovative. I would have loved to see a video but your words and the pictures are able to generate the excitement the act must have induced.
I normally enjoy anything that has good music thrown in. I'm sure this would have been a great one with the band playing along too.

    1. It was thrilling and innovative as you say Vinodini, at least in my eyes. I was, I swear a bright-eyed, six year old watching them and listening to the music. I was so mesmerized. The photos don't do it justice unfortunately and I truly wished I had at least one video to show. ;) <3

    2. I forgot to mention Vinodini, that it wasn't just the music, it was also the lyrics that brought the event to life: it was apropos to the fire performance! ;)

  2. These are the best times, Elly, when you go to an outdoor market and there are performances and music. You never know what surprises are in store for you. I agree - fire painting is enthralling, but I tend to get nervous ... and worry about safety and stuff. OVER-worry that is ... :( HUGS <3

    1. Yes, they are 'best times' Judy as you say! I love the summer for this reason: lots of fun in the sun! <3 For safety, they partitioned the area of with 'emergency' yellow tape that the police use to mark off blocked areas. You could come as close or stay as far back as you want to. Me, I was up front and centre (like a kid) enthralled! ;) <3
