Kindness is epitomized in the book and movie Pay it Forward in which a person fulfills three good deeds for others - not the original giver - upon receiving (the benefit of) a kind deed. A feel-good society develops as this movement spreads.
There are kindness movements rippling through North America (Canada and the United States) and other countries as well.
In my local backyard so-to-speak, Brock Tully started 'Random Acts of Kindness' both as a concept and an organization. He has a bullying prevention program for schools, and he used to host an annual 'World Kindness Concert' on the message of kindness. I wrote about him on World Kindness Day (http://xpressyouressence.blogspot.ca/2014/11/envy-and-kindness-what-combo.html).
Are you familiar with either of these concepts: "pay it forward" or "random acts of kindness" and more importantly, do you practice them? If so, how?

I had written a post on Pay it Forward on my blog. I think it was my first post :) Love the concept, also random acts of kindness one. People love being surprised, pleasantly of course. Seeing the joy on the strangers faces lights up the heart of the doer/giver. Lovely post.
ReplyDeleteCool: I'll have to check that out Sulekkha! :) Yes, both concepts are great, aren't they? :) <3
DeleteI haven't tried this 'pay it forward' method Elly but reading this, I would love to :) Random act of kindness can be such a joy bringer in people's life :)

Yes, try it, you'll like it! ;) Yes, and both joy on both the giver and receiver! :) <3
DeleteI'm a huge fan of the random act of kindness movement. And paying it forward!

Awesome! Glad to hear that you are a fan of both! :) Does that mean you do both? ;) <3
DeleteI like both ideas. I suppose if you don't wait to be at the receiving end of a good deed before you pay it forward, it then becomes a random act of kindness.
ReplyDeleteYes, that's exactly right Sheila. Spot on! :) <3
DeletePay it Forward and Random Acts of Kindness are amazing concepts. If everybody does their bit and does small acts of kindness, like a ripple, we can bring smiles on so many faces! :)
ReplyDeleteThat AND change the world for the better! :) <3
DeleteI did Kindness today, too! Great subject! I love the idea of Random Acts of Kindness and Paying it Forward. I liked the movie, too, except for the ending. :(
ReplyDeleteThe world can always use more kindness, that's for sure.
Great minds think alike Cat! ;) Yes the movie was great, except for the sad ending. What a world it would be if it revolved around both concepts! :) <3
DeleteHello there.
ReplyDeleteThe concept of kindness is really nothing new. It originates with God. In fact, in His Word, the Bible, God requires we always show loving kindness not just in speech, but in actions and not just to people we know either, but to strangers as well (Micah 6:8; Luke 6:36, 36; Colossians 3:12; Galatians 5:22).
Thanks for sharing.

Yes, treat others as to how you would like to be treated are certainly wise words and advice just as relevant today! :) <3
